Commercial HVAC Services in New Orleans

We run six commercial HVAC services for businesses and property owners across New Orleans and 10 nearby cities. Each one has its own page setting out what it involves.

Commercial work is not residential work at a larger size. The equipment carries different loads, runs far longer hours, and fails in ways a house system never does. Estimates are free, with no obligation attached to the quote.

How Is Commercial HVAC Different?

A commercial system is specified from what the building does rather than from its floor area. Occupancy, operating hours, cooking, machinery and how much outside air has to be brought in all change the requirement.

The consequence of a failure is also different. A house that gets uncomfortable is an inconvenience; a building that cannot operate is lost income, which is why scheduled servicing carries more weight on this side.

The 6 Commercial HVAC Services We Run

Each links to a page covering what the work involves and when it applies.

Which Commercial Service Do You Need?

Match the situation to the service: the six patterns below cover most of what New Orleans businesses call us about, and each one points at the commercial service that fits. Most businesses call with a situation rather than a service name.

These overlap more than the residential equivalents do, because a commercial building usually has several systems working alongside each other.

The building will not hold temperature

That is commercial cooling in summer and commercial heating in winter, and in a building with a mixed load it can be both. We look at the equipment and the load before deciding which.

Stock is not staying cold

That is refrigeration, which is a separate system from comfort cooling with its own failure modes. Ice buildup, noise and leaks are the usual early signs and they are worth acting on.

The air feels stale, or moisture is a problem

That is ventilation. In a working building the requirement is driven by occupancy and by what has to be removed from the air, rather than by the size of the room.

The ductwork does not fit the building

That is sheet metal ductwork, which we fabricate and install in-house. Buildings adapted from a previous use often keep ductwork designed for that use, and it rarely suits the new one.

Faults keep arriving unannounced

That is the argument for scheduled maintenance. It does not eliminate breakdowns, and we would not claim it does, but it turns most faults into a visit you chose the date of.

A new fit-out or a change of use

That is usually several of the above at once, and it is worth talking through before anything is ordered. Getting the sizing and the ventilation right at that stage is far cheaper than correcting it later.

Why here is different

What Does the Climate Do to Commercial Systems?

New Orleans heat and humidity work commercial equipment harder than residential, because a commercial system already runs longer hours and has to condition far more outside air.

01

Long hours in a long season

The cooling season here is long and humid, and commercial equipment is often running through all of it for far more hours a day than a house system. That accumulates wear quickly.

02

Moisture is most of the load

Bringing outside air into a building here means bringing heat and moisture with it, and that lands on the cooling system as work it has to do. Recovery ventilation exists for exactly that reason.

03

Idle equipment still degrades

Heating equipment sits unused from roughly March to November, and humidity works on metal components whether or not they are running. Testing before the season is how that gets caught.

04

Downtime is the real cost

The repair invoice is often not the biggest number in a commercial failure. The hours the business could not operate can cost more, which changes the math on scheduled servicing.

Questions we get asked

Commercial HVAC Questions, Answered

What commercial HVAC services do you offer?

We run six: commercial cooling, commercial heating, commercial maintenance, commercial refrigeration, sheet metal ductwork and commercial ventilation. Each has its own page setting out what it involves. All six cover New Orleans and the 10 nearby cities we serve, for businesses and property owners, and estimates are free on every one of them.

How is commercial HVAC different from residential?

A commercial system is specified from what the building does rather than from its floor area. Occupancy, operating hours, cooking, machinery and the amount of outside air required all change the requirement, and the equipment runs far more hours under a heavier load. Treating a commercial building as a large house is the most common way this work goes wrong.

Do you fabricate ductwork or only install it?

Both, and in-house. We fabricate and install commercial sheet metal ductwork, which is what lets the ductwork suit the building instead of the building having to accommodate standard sections. That matters in New Orleans, where adaptive reuse is common and a building's ducts were often designed for a previous use.

Does scheduled maintenance prevent breakdowns?

No, and we would not claim it does. What it does is turn most faults into a visit you chose the date of rather than one that arrives during business hours, and it finds developing problems while they are still repairs. On the commercial side that matters more, because downtime costs more than the repair usually does.

Do you handle commercial refrigeration?

Yes. We repair and maintain commercial refrigeration, which is a separate system from comfort cooling with its own failure modes. Ice buildup on the coils, unusual noise and leaks are the common early signs, and they are worth acting on before the unit stops rather than after.

How do you work out what ventilation a building needs?

We work it out from four things: the size of the space, the climate it sits in, how many people occupy it, and what has to be removed from the air. Occupancy in particular drives the requirement in a way floor area does not, so a room with twenty people in it and a room with two are different problems at the same size.

Can you work around our operating hours?

We work Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 3:00pm, and we are closed Saturday and Sunday, so a commercial visit is scheduled inside that weekday window. We plan the work around what the building can accommodate within those hours, and we say so up front rather than after booking.

How do I book a commercial estimate?

Call 504-285-5606 during business hours, or send the form on our contact page. Tell us what kind of building it is, what is installed, and how many hours the equipment runs. We assess the building before quoting rather than working from a rate card, and the estimate is free.
