Question 1

What does Big Easy HVAC do?

Accepted Answer

At Big Easy HVAC, we are a heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractor based in New Orleans, Louisiana. We install, repair and maintain residential and commercial systems, including central air conditioning, ductless mini-splits, furnaces, heat pumps, ductwork and commercial refrigeration, across the New Orleans metro, the North Shore, the river parishes and Baton Rouge.

Question 2

Why do air conditioners work harder in New Orleans than in most of the country?

Accepted Answer

The cooling season in New Orleans is long and the humidity is high, so a system runs far more hours a year than it would further north and has to remove a great deal of moisture on top of cooling the air. That workload is why correct sizing, good drainage and sealed ducts matter so much, and why annual maintenance is not optional here.

Question 3

Should I repair my air conditioner or replace it?

Accepted Answer

Repair usually makes sense when the system is still within its expected service life and the fault is a single component. Replacement becomes the better value when the same system has needed repeated repairs, when the compressor fails, or when the unit is old enough that parts are hard to source. We give you both numbers before you decide, and the estimate is free.

Question 4

What size air conditioning system does my home need?

Accepted Answer

Size is calculated from the home, not from square footage alone. We look at the area being conditioned, ceiling height, insulation, window exposure and how the ductwork runs. An oversized system cools in short bursts and leaves the air damp, while an undersized one never catches up in August.

Question 5

Do you work on both homes and businesses?

Accepted Answer

Yes. On the residential side we handle air conditioning, furnaces, heat pumps, ductless systems, ductwork, zone control and indoor air quality. On the commercial side we handle cooling, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, sheet metal ductwork and scheduled maintenance for commercial and industrial systems.

Question 6

Is air duct cleaning worth it in a humid climate?

Accepted Answer

In a climate this humid, air duct cleaning is worth an inspection at least. Ducts in New Orleans homes collect dust and moisture, and leaking ductwork makes the system work harder to deliver the same comfort. We inspect the ducts first and tell you whether duct cleaning, sealing or neither is the right call.

Question 7

What happens during an HVAC maintenance visit?

Accepted Answer

A maintenance visit covers inspecting and testing the system, checking that the ductwork is sealed, and confirming the unit is running as it should before we leave. Catching a weak component during an HVAC tune-up is far cheaper than replacing it after it fails in the middle of summer.

Question 8

How do I get a quote from Big Easy HVAC?

Accepted Answer

Call 504-285-5606 or request a free estimate through the site. We arrange a visit, look at the space that needs to be conditioned, and give you a figure. Estimates are free on all services, and there is no obligation to book.
